GAL Sicilia Centro Meridionale

Local Action Group

The GAL Southern Central Sicily is a limited liability consortium company established in 2009 with the aim of promoting sustainable and integrated rural development in the eastern area of the province of Agrigento, gathering a public-private partnership of municipalities, institutions, and local entities. Adopting a participatory "bottom-up" approach, it develops and implements local strategies aimed at diversifying the rural economy, enhancing the agricultural, tourist, and cultural potential of the territory, and encouraging the creation and growth of micro-enterprises. Through thematic calls for proposals funded by the RDP Sicily, the GAL supports investments in agricultural sectors, renewable energies, sustainable tourism, light infrastructures, and innovative services, promoting digitalization, cooperation among local actors, and employment, with the aim of improving the quality of life and strengthening the identity of the rural communities involved.
