Local Action Group
The GAL Metropoli Est is a public-private consortium established on December 27, 2010, with the aim of promoting economic, social, and cultural development in the eastern area of the metropolitan city of Palermo, involving coastal, hilly, and inland municipalities. Comprising 15 municipalities and 17 private entities, the partnership began its operational activities in January 2012, focusing on the strategies of the LEADER Program for the 2007-2013 period and subsequently on the 2014-2020 programming. Through thematic calls for proposals, the GAL supports projects for small and medium rural enterprises, sustainable tourism, enhancement of environmental and cultural heritage, innovative and inclusive services, and competitive agricultural value chains. It also promotes territorial animation, digitalization, and cooperation among public entities, associations, and local operators, with a participatory approach aimed at combating depopulation and improving the quality of life in the area.
