Park
The Pantelleria National Park is located in the heart of the Mediterranean Sea, between Sicily and Tunisia, and covers a large part of the territory of the volcanic island of the same name. The landscape is unique and evocative, shaped by ancient eruptions, black lava, extinct craters, and volcanic cones. The park is known for its Pantelleria gardens, terraced cultivation of capers and Zibibbo grapes, and natural saunas like Benikulà, which offer unique experiences in contact with nature. Pantelleria is a true laboratory of Mediterranean biodiversity, with endemic species, extensive pine and oak forests, and wetlands like Lake Venere, a thermal basin of extraordinary beauty. The fauna includes migratory birds, small mammals, and the Pantelleria donkey, a symbol of the island. The park also values traditional agricultural culture, so much so that the Pantelleria bush vine has been recognized as intangible heritage of humanity. The territory is ideal for hiking, trekking, biking, and activities related to sustainable tourism, in an environment still untouched and far from mass tourism.
