The Museum of Ethnic Musical Instruments is housed in the historic Palazzo Montesano and occupies several rooms on the main floor. The collection, comprising approximately 600 musical instruments from around the world, was born from the passion of Modica native Duccio Belgiorno, who dedicated his life to researching and collecting these artifacts.

The exhibited collection is of great ethnographic value and includes rare and, in some cases, unique instruments. Among the most unique pieces are artifacts from Tibet, such as flutes made from human bones and a ritual drum (damaru) made from skull elements.

The collection also includes traditional instruments from Africa, Asia, and the Americas, with significant examples from Papua New Guinea, as well as idiophones, stringed instruments, and percussion instruments such as Argentine charangos, Russian balalaikas, Brazilian birimbaos, and Indian sitars.

At the entrance, a decorated planisphere introduces visitors to the global and multicultural dimension of the collection.
