The Church of San Francesco, founded in the 14th century by the Ventimiglia family, is one of the most important religious and monumental buildings in Castelbuono. Expanded and renovated several times over the centuries, it houses a rich artistic heritage, including valuable paintings, sculptures, a 14th-century fresco of Santa Maria di Bisanzio, and one of the oldest functioning organs in Italy, built in 1547.

Next to the church is the Ventimiglia Mausoleum, an elegant octagonal funerary chapel built in the 15th century to house the tombs of the noble family who ruled the county of Castelbuono for centuries. The complex represents one of the most significant testimonies to the history, art, and spirituality of the Madonie village.
