The Anchovy and Maritime Arts Museum in Aspra, a seaside hamlet of Bagheria, is a unique exhibition space dedicated to fishing traditions and maritime culture. The museum, founded by the Balistreri family, recounts, through objects, tools, and firsthand accounts, the lives of fishermen and the ancient techniques of processing and preserving bluefish.
The exhibition reconstructs the environments and practices associated with anchovy fishing, a historically central activity to the local economy, highlighting the strong connection between the community and the sea. Beyond its museum-like nature, the facility also maintains a sense of identity and cultural significance, becoming a hub for promoting the maritime traditions of the Aspra area and the Palermo coast.
