The International Nativity Scene Museum – “L. Colaleo” Collection in Caltagirone is an exhibition space dedicated to Italian and international nativity scene art, created thanks to the donation of the prestigious private collection of lawyer Luigi Colaleo. Housed in the former Municipal Library, a building designed by Ernesto Basile, the museum brings together approximately one thousand works, including ancient and contemporary nativity scenes from around the world.
The exhibition focuses on the nativity scene tradition of Caltagirone and Naples, with pieces of great artistic and historical value, alongside modern creations that reinterpret the theme of the Nativity using a variety of techniques and materials. The museum represents an important cultural hub for the city of Caltagirone and for the dissemination of the nativity scene tradition internationally.
