Museo dell'opera dei pupi siciliani delle Madonie - MOPS

The Madonie Museum of Sicilian Puppet Theater (MOPS) is an important cultural center dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the tradition of puppet theater, recognized by UNESCO as an Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. Located in the Madonie Mountains, the museum was created from the collection of the Sicilian Popular Puppetry Cultural Association, promoted by Angelo Sicilia.

The exhibition tells the story of the puppet theater through puppets, sets, and stage materials, including a special section dedicated to the "anti-mafia puppets," which depict symbolic figures in the fight against organized crime, such as Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino. The museum represents a hub for the dissemination of this Sicilian theatrical tradition and its contemporary reinterpretation.
