Museo degli arazzi

The Marsala Tapestry Museum, located near the Cathedral of St. Thomas of Canterbury, houses a precious collection of eight large 16th-century Flemish tapestries. The works, donated to the city in the 18th century by Bishop Antonio Lombardo, depict episodes from the Jewish War narrated by the historian Flavius Josephus.

Detailed with exquisite detail and color, the tapestries represent an important example of Renaissance Flemish art and depict scenes of battles, sieges, and moments of ancient life. The collection is one of the most significant artistic treasures preserved in Marsala.
