Cala Cottone

Cala Cottone, on the northeastern coast of Pantelleria, is also of interest from an archaeological and museum perspective. The area's seabed preserves evidence of the island's maritime past, including artifacts and traces of ancient shipwrecks, amphorae, and other archaeological finds. These findings, the subject of research and documentation by the Superintendency of the Sea, contribute to our understanding of the history of navigation and trade that have affected Pantelleria over the centuries. This underwater heritage thus constitutes a sort of "extensive museum" of the sea, closely linked to the island's history and landscape.
