Punta Li Marsi

Punta Li Marsi is a stretch of Pantelleria's coast of particular scenic and archaeological interest. Among the volcanic rocks and seabed of the area lies an important underwater heritage, linked to the island's long maritime history. Several artifacts have been identified, including stone and iron anchors, a Roman lead anchor stock, fragments of amphorae, a lead ingot, and parts of a lead fistula likely belonging to a Roman-era bilge pump. The site thus constitutes a veritable underwater museum, where archaeological remains remain in their original setting and tell the story of navigation and trade that have affected Pantelleria over the centuries.
