Museo civico "Antonio Collisani"

The "Antonio Collisani" Civic Museum in Petralia Sottana is housed in the historic center's former 15th-century prison and is one of the most significant cultural sites in the Madonie Mountains.

The museum is divided into several sections that intertwine the nature and history of the area: the archaeological section, linked to the renowned Collisani Collection and the discovery of the Vecchiuzzo Cave, recounts the human presence in the Madonie Mountains since prehistoric times; the geological section illustrates the extraordinary evolution of the Madonie landscape through rocks and fossils that testify to its ancient origins.

Completing the exhibition is a photographic section that documents the life and identity of the area throughout the 20th century, creating a narrative that combines scientific research, historical memory, and local culture.
