The 2025 Noto Infiorata, now in its 46th edition, transforms Via Corrado Nicolaci into an ephemeral masterpiece of floral art. Each year, artists and volunteers collaborate to create long carpets of petals, leaves, and natural materials, creating authentic compositions inspired by the theme "Peace Becomes Art: The Infiorata That Unites, Hope Beyond Borders." This year's opening work, created on Friday, May 16th, depicts Pope Francis embracing a child with a dove in flight: a powerful image of solidarity and rebirth.
Preparations begin the night between Friday and Saturday, when the flower arrangers precisely sketch the first designs and begin placing the petals. By Saturday morning, the work is already visible to the public, who can admire the 16 or more flower-filled panels arranged along the baroque street. From Saturday to the following Tuesday, the creation stands out for its ephemeral beauty and intense sensory journey through scents and colors.
Strolling among these works means entering into a dialogue between art, nature, and local identity: each animal, symbol, or figure depicted in the plant mosaics speaks of history, faith, mythology, or contemporary hope. The setting itself, composed of characteristic Baroque-style facades, makes the experience even more evocative, as if Noto's living stone were part of the narrative.
The festival is not limited to visual beauty alone: it accompanies the Infiorata with a series of collateral events, such as cultural gatherings, music (from DJ sets to live performances), children's workshops, and guided tours that enliven the historic center. Each year, the event becomes an opportunity to bring together communities, families, and visitors in a moment of collective sharing, where art becomes a message of unity and dialogue.
The Infiorata di Noto is more than a floral showcase: it is a civic ritual that renews the ability to create beauty through the commitment of many, celebrates hospitality, and invites reflection on universal values. During those days, the city becomes a temple of peace, woven with petals and hope.
