The Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows is one of the most important religious festivals in Monterosso Almo and is celebrated annually on the third Sunday of September. Dedicated to the town's patron saint since 1644, the festival unites faith, tradition, and popular participation.
The celebrations begin with the novena at the Diocesan Sanctuary of Our Lady of Sorrows. On the day of the feast, the statue of the Madonna is carried in procession through the streets of the town, accompanied by the faithful, the band, and the characteristic blue "nzaiarieddi." In the afternoon, the traditional "cena" (dinner) takes place, an auction of gifts featuring typical products and local sweets. The day concludes with the evocative evening procession and fireworks, providing a moment of great emotion and devotion for the entire community.
