The Palio dei Normanni is one of Southern Italy’s most enthralling medieval reenactments, held annually in Piazza Armerina from August 12 to 14, 2025. It commemorates Count Roger I of Hauteville's peaceful takeover from the Saracens in the 11th century. Over three days, more than 600 participants don period attire—noblewomen, knights, archers, and soldiers—for processions, knightly investitures, and the thrilling Quintana del Saraceno. Four historic districts—Monte, Castellina, Canali, Casalotto—compete in horseback challenges involving lances, javelins, and ring-throwing. The opening includes the traditional key delivery ceremony and blessing of the knights, culminating in the award of the banner depicting Maria Santissima delle Vittorie. A living medieval spectacle woven with faith, folklore, and communal pride
