The Sole Luna Doc Film Festival is a distinguished annual documentary film event held in Palermo since 2006. It transforms iconic venues such as the GAM (Modern Art Gallery), the Sant’Anna Cloister, and Palazzo Branciforte into sites for screenings, discussions, and cultural exploration. The festival showcases both feature-length and short documentaries from around the world, often debuting international and national premieres, with strong thematic focus on migration, human rights, ecological issues, and the intersection of technology and nature. It includes competitive sections such as “Doc for Future,” which spotlights films addressing environmental challenges. An international jury awards prizes for categories like best film, directing, cinematography, editing, and soundtrack, alongside audience and youth jury awards, and a special "Bridge Between Cultures" prize. Produced by Sole Luna – A Bridge Between Cultures, a nonprofit organization, the festival also supports educational initiatives, collaborations with universities, and cultural networks, creating a platform that connects global perspectives with local voices in a shared vision.
