SITU Festival is a site-specific art residency and itinerant exhibition that annually brings contemporary art into small Sicilian towns. Founded by artist Nicola Tineo and produced by the Zona Blu association, the festival invites national and international artists to spend roughly two weeks in residence, creating installations and artworks within atypical venues—such as deserted churches, historic courtyards, or noble buildings. At the residency’s end, these works open to the public, fostering urban revitalization and forging ties between art, heritage, and local communities. Complementing the visual art, the program features talks, live performances, concerts, video projections, and art therapy workshops. Each edition is centered around a curatorial theme exploring the intersection of art and place and encourages creative exchange among artists, residents, and audiences. SITU offers a novel approach to public art: accessible, immersive, and collaborative, it turns everyday settings into sites of artistic discovery.
