Prima Onda Fest is a dynamic multidisciplinary festival in Palermo, running from September through November, offering theatre, dance, music, performances, and participatory arts. Born from the Genìa collective and rooted in collaboration with local and international artists, the festival transforms the city’s southern outskirts into a vibrant stage: venues include ecomuseums, repurposed workshops, alternative theatres, and public spaces—from the Oreto River to the Botanical Garden.
Programmed across three thematic sections—Metamorphosis, Derive, and Approdi—the festival presents more than sixty events exploring themes like borders, exile, memory, and collective creativity. The artistic direction features contributors such as Manuela Lo Sicco for theatre, Giovanna Velardi for dance, Luca Giannetto for music, and Cristina Alga overseeing site-specific projects, ensuring a cohesive yet experimental vision.
Conceived as a cultural archipelago in flow, Prima Onda Fest aims to foster healing and urban renewal through art, reclaiming marginalized spaces and forging deep connections between artists and local communities.
