Lavori di realizzazione del Museo 900 - COMPLESSO EX LEOPOLDINE

Firenze (Firenze), Toscana

Description

The museum is housed in the historic complex of the former "Leopoldine," a building with ancient origins: originally a hospital in the 13th century, it became one of the Leopoldine schools dedicated to the education of poor young women in 1870. After the Second World War, it was acquired by the City of Florence, where it was carefully restored and converted into a museum in recent years.
The exhibition is entirely dedicated to 20th-century Italian art: with approximately 300 works distributed across fifteen exhibition spaces, visitors can immerse themselves in a journey that explores the cultural and visual transformations of the last century. In addition to the permanent collection, the museum also offers a study space, a graphic design studio with drawings and prints, a conference room, and a screening room, elements that enrich the museum experience and allow for in-depth thematic exploration.
The restoration has completely restored the building's architecture, integrating new technological systems to ensure the preservation of the works and high standards of enjoyment. The museum has become one of the city's modern art hubs, representing a bridge between the building's historical and architectural heritage and the modernity of 20th-century art.
Visiting hours are flexible: Monday afternoons, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays during the day, and Thursdays and Saturdays until late at night. This also allows those working or studying to find suitable times to visit.
Ultimately, this museum is not just a collection of works of art, but a comprehensive project that combines historic architecture, careful restoration, and a cultural mission aimed at promoting
