The Teatro Massimo Foundation in Palermo, which manages Italy's largest opera house, is a cultural pillar not only for the city but for the whole of Sicily. The theater promotes a wide range of artistic programs: operas, ballets, concerts, activities for young people and schools, guided tours, and educational programs. An Art Bonus fundraising campaign is underway for 2025, with a goal of €5,000,000. This campaign will support cultural programming, expand audiences, especially among younger audiences, and promote projects of artistic excellence both inside and outside the theater.
In parallel, a specific €100,000 campaign is underway to fund the theater's youth groups: the Massimo Kids Orchestra, the Massimo Youth Orchestra, the Children's Choir, and the Cantoria. This latter initiative aims to involve approximately 250 children and young people in collective musical practice, promoting artistic education and raising awareness of musical heritage among new generations.
The collections reflect a cultural strategy of inclusiveness and innovation: on the one hand, ensuring the continuity of a first-rate artistic season, on the other, building an educational connection with the new generations. In 2024, the €5,000,000 fundraising campaign was already closed and the implementation phase concluded, while the 2025 campaign is still open, with no donations recorded to date.
