The project celebrates the centenary of the birth of Sicilian writer Gesualdo Bufalino (Comiso, 1920–1996) through a series of cultural initiatives organized in 2019–2020 by the Foundation dedicated to him. The goal is to promote his work and literary figure through conferences, exhibitions, readings, theatrical performances adapted from his writings, and editorial publications.
These initiatives are primarily held in the Foundation's Archive-Library, with the aim of making Bufalino's documentary and bibliographical collection more accessible to Italian and international scholars, promoting research and study of his work. The organization of these events aims to foster a lively dialogue between literature, education, and the community, and strengthen the institution's cultural mission.
Although the fundraising campaign is still open, no donations or expenditures have been recorded to date. The requested financial contribution, amounting to €20,000, will support the planning and implementation of the commemorative events, including organizational costs, logistics, promotion, and publication of editorial materials.
The initiative represents a significant opportunity to honor Bufalino's memory and stimulate interest in contemporary Sicilian literature, promoting a cultural heritage that intertwines territorial identity and national memory.
