Biblioteca Comunale “Leonardo Bonanno” – Plesso Corridoni

Mazara del Vallo (Trapani), Sicilia

Description

The "Leonardo Bonanno" Municipal Library – Corridoni Complex, located in Mazara del Vallo, is a key cultural center for promoting reading and local culture. In addition to traditional lending services, welcoming patrons, and updating its book collection, the library coordinates numerous cultural projects to foster active community participation.
Among the most significant initiatives is the Pact for Reading, which involves associations, readers, and local groups in spreading the joy of reading. The library also participates in the national programs "Città che legge" and "Born to Read," strengthening its educational role in the area.
A fundraising campaign is currently open to support the 2025 Multicultural Festival, with a target of €10,000. The initiative is currently in the implementation phase and includes the organization of a three-day festival in October 2025, in collaboration with the signatories of the Pact for Reading. The festival will include book presentations, conferences, and roundtable discussions dedicated to multiculturalism, as well as a village dedicated to crafts and music, designed to showcase the diverse cultures present in the area.
The initiative has been postponed until April 8, 2025, when the fundraising phase has been confirmed. The initiative aims not only to promote reading, but also to strengthen a sense of community and foster intercultural dialogue, making the library a dynamic and inclusive hub.
