Intervento di manutenzione straordinaria dei percorsi e di riqualificazione del verde del Teatro Greco

Patti (Messina), Sicilia

Description

The Tindari Archaeological Park, in the municipality of Patti, is a cultural and environmental area of great historical, archaeological, and landscape value. Organized as a "widespread" park, it encompasses coastal and inland archaeological sites. One of its central features is the Greek Theater, which overlooks the Tyrrhenian coast and is nestled within a landscape that includes decumani, baths, public buildings, and the Antiquarium, a vestige of the ancient Greco-Roman city.
The ongoing project involves extraordinary maintenance of the pathways around the Greek Theater and the redevelopment of the surrounding greenery. The project is divided into three main areas. The first area involves stabilizing the earth surrounding the theater's summa cavea, finishing with medium-grained washed gravel to ensure resilience, permeability, and ease of use. The second area concerns landscaping: the redevelopment of a flowerbed along the boundary wall separating the archaeological area from the provincial road is planned, with the creation of a "green curtain" using hedges of local trees appropriate to the context. The third area concerns the safety and demarcation of the area, including the reconstruction of the exposed stone perimeter wall, the integration of missing sections, the reconstruction of the solid brick pillars supporting the entrance gate, the maintenance of the existing iron railing, and the replacement of the metal mesh with an iron railing that extends the existing one.
The total requested cost is €55,000, a sum intended to cover all these project activities. At this time, no donations or expenses have been recorded, as the fundraising campaign is open. The project aims not only to preserve the theater's physical condition, but also to improve visitor accessibility, safety, and the aesthetics of the site, thus promoting a better appreciation of its historical and cultural heritage.
Supporting this project means contributing to the preservation of a monument that is part of the collective memory, part of the local identity, and a potential driver of the area's cultural and tourism development.
