Located in the historic heart of Montemaggiore Belsito, a charming village in the Madonie mountains, the Palazzo del Principe di Baucina is a prestigious historic residence, built around 1860–1866 based on a design by architect Ignazio Greco.
The building extends over three floors, with an imposing main façade of approximately 40 meters and includes extensive outbuildings, an internal courtyard, and a walled rear garden.
Dimensions: Over 1,000 square meters of living space, plus a large courtyard and approximately 10,000 square meters of walled land with multiple access points.
Its distinctive features include:
• its highly scenic location, overlooking part of the historic center and enjoying a significant view of the surrounding landscape;
• its period architectural features: classical proportions, details reminiscent of 19th-century taste, as well as the presence of large interior spaces potentially recyclable for residential, hospitality, or cultural purposes;
• a remarkable history: the palace has roots in the local nobility, ancient properties linked to the Migliaccio family, the fiefdom of Baucina, and the history of the town itself.
Although some parts require restoration work—both structural and stylistic—the property retains enormous potential both as a prestigious residence and as a venue for prestigious hospitality or cultural events, thanks to its grandeur, historic charm, and generous spaces.
More information (video link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uuagrtkUoog): In the 1990s, an evocative Living Nativity Scene came to life within the majestic halls and courtyards of the Palazzo del Principe di Baucina, transforming the ancient noble residence into a veritable village of first-century Palestine. Costumed figures, animals, and scenes of daily life realistically recreated the atmosphere of the Nativity, accompanied by traditional songs and music.
The palace's historic setting gave the nativity scene a unique charm: the 19th-century architecture became a natural backdrop, blending spirituality, art, and local history. This event, well attended by the community and visitors, helped enhance the cultural heritage of Montemaggiore Belsito, transforming the palace into a hub of gatherings and a tourist attraction during the Christmas holidays.
