The Val di Noto Baroque Magic International Festival is a prestigious cultural event in Sicily, dedicated to the study and promotion of Baroque music through an in-depth look at musical philology, performance practice, and recordings. Held within iconic historic sites in Catania, such as Palazzo Biscari and the Church of San Giuliano ai Crociferi (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), the festival builds bridges between past and present, offering audiences top-notch musical performances.
This year's program features a consolidated formula: exclusive, one-off performances, taking place between October and November at two main venues (Teatro Machiavelli di Palazzo San Giuliano and Circolo Monk). This year, 21 thematic concerts are planned, featuring Baroque composers, modern premieres of rediscovered pieces, philological transcriptions, and creative crossovers that intertwine sacred and Baroque music with contemporary jazz, thanks to the participation of performers such as Enrico Pieranunzi, Paolo Fresu, and Dino Rubino.
With a total budget of €100,000.00, the project will cover eligible costs such as staffing, hospitality, promotion, and space management (approximately 40% of the total), while the remainder will fund conferences, seminars, exhibitions, and other collateral activities that enrich the cultural offering.
Supported by national and regional institutions, the Festival stands out for its ability to combine rigorous musicological research, spectacularity, and cultural innovation, positioning itself as a benchmark event for the Baroque musical tradition and a valuable cultural resource for the Val di Noto community.
