Scenario Pubblico / Compagnia Zappalà Danza – Intervento “ScenarioDanza 23/24”

Catania (Catania), Sicilia

Description

Scenario Pubblico is the center of the Compagnia Zappalà Danza in Catania, recognized as a Center of Significant National Interest for Dance. The "ScenarioDanza 23/24" project is part of the center's annual activities, which is a point of reference in the Italian and European choreographic scene. The building houses a 150-seat theater, dance studios, scenography and video dance workshops, offices, an archive space, guest quarters, and a café-restaurant, and is also a meeting place and venue for cultural production.
The ScenarioDanza 23/24 project included a thematic season, with the theme "Sport," understood not only as a physical discipline but as an imagery and cultural value interpretable through the languages of contemporary dance. Various companies and choreographers have been involved in productions, hosted performances, workshops, meetings, urban dance activities, video dance festivals, and specific training programs. The program is structured around diverse audiences, including vulnerable or disadvantaged audiences, and aims to foster inclusion and cultural participation.
The project has an estimated total cost of €500,000. The fundraising campaign has been closed and is currently in the implementation phase, with work and activities underway. Scenario Pubblico, thanks to its structured role, integrates production, hospitality, artistic residencies, training, and multidisciplinary projects, strengthening relationships with national and European partners.
This type of project not only enriches the cultural offerings of the city of Catania, but also contributes to social and tourism development, promoting dance as an accessible form of expression, strengthening relationships with the local area and communities, and generating positive artistic and economic impacts.
