The Vittorio Alfieri Municipal Theatre is one of the most significant cultural and architectural landmarks in the town of Naso. Located at the main entrance to the town, on a stretch that likely coincides with part of the ancient castle walls, it represents not only an artistic asset but also a symbol of identity for the local community. The building is distinguished by its neoclassical façade: on the first tier, four columns frame the main portal and support a projecting entablature; the lighter second tier features three symmetrical windows aligned with those below.
Inside, the theatre originally had an "Italian-style" layout with an elliptical plan, truncated on the main axis, divided into four tiers of boxes. Over time, various interventions have modified it: stalls with a grandstand, partial demolition of original structures, enlargement of the proscenium to accommodate variety shows, until it gradually declined in use and was abandoned for a very long time.
After decades of inactivity, the project finally completed included structural restoration, consolidation, completion of the systems (electrical, fire prevention, and air conditioning), and improvements to the stalls and stage, with a focus on accessibility and safety. Visibility to the stage was also improved by raising the front rows and installing a compliant ramp, as well as installing a control room, a box office, and a home automation system for interior lighting. The goal is to restore to the city a functional space for performances, meetings, and cultural activities, reflecting its history and identity.
With a budget of approximately €150,000, the project was fully funded, and the theater is now open to the public after years of closure.
