Local Action Group
The Valle del Belice GAL is a public-private partnership established to promote the sustainable development of rural and intermunicipal communities in southwestern Sicily. Operating in a region marked by challenges related to depopulation, fragile infrastructure, and the need to revitalize local economies, the GAL proposes a participatory model that involves governments, businesses, associations, and citizens in the shared definition of growth strategies. Through thematic calls for proposals and targeted interventions, it supports the enhancement of agricultural supply chains, innovation in production processes, the promotion of experiential tourism, and the protection of environmental and cultural heritage. Its activities include local development services, assistance with planning and access to funding, and the promotion of cooperation and digitalization, with the aim of stimulating new businesses, redeveloping villages, creating employment opportunities, and strengthening local identity.
