In the heart of the Belice Valley, the medieval village of Salemi (already ranked 3rd in the 2023 "Borgo dei Borghi" competition) returns to celebrate one of its most fascinating and ancient traditions: the Feast of Saint Joseph. For eight days, the Trapani municipality is transformed into an open-air museum where faith, bread-making, and hospitality merge under the theme "Contemporary Tradition."
The heart of the event is the famous Cene di San Giuseppe, majestic wooden altars covered in laurel leaves, myrtle, and oranges, decorated with traditional votive breads. These true works of art are hand-shaped by local women into symbolic forms: flowers, fruits, and sacred icons that tell the story of Christianity and nature.
The calendar is packed with events ranging from the sacred to the contemporary: processions, exhibitions, workshops, hiking trails, and food and wine tours.
