GAL Rocca di Cerere

Local Action Group

The GAL Rocca di Cerere is a public-private consortium non-profit organization established in 1998 to implement and manage integrated rural development strategies in the southeastern area of the province of Enna, with funding from the LEADER II, LEADER+, and PSR Sicilia programs. These interventions have led to the creation of the "Rocca di Cerere Quality, Cultural and Sustainable Tourism Rural District," recognized as a Geopark at a global level and a UNESCO heritage site in 2015, combining the enhancement of geological, landscape, agricultural, archaeological, and cultural resources into a single project of territorial cohesion. The GAL operates by promoting cooperation among local authorities, associations, businesses, and the academic world to support typical agricultural sectors, tourist infrastructure, regeneration of historical-natural heritage, and entrepreneurial initiatives, aiming to strengthen community identity, quality of life, and employment in the area.
