GAL Terre dell'Etna e Alcantara

Local Action Group

The GAL Terre dell'Etna and Alcantara is a public-private partnership born with the aim of promoting sustainable and integrated development in the territories that extend from the eastern slope of Mount Etna to the Alcantara Valley. Operating in a context rich in biodiversity, volcanic landscape, river waters, and cultural traditions, the GAL supports projects capable of enhancing local agriculture, with particular attention to PDO and organic products, promoting authentic tourism linked to nature and historical-environmental heritage, and fostering innovation and digitalization in production chains. Through actions of territorial animation, training, technical assistance, and access to financing, the GAL stimulates cooperation between municipalities, businesses, associations, and communities, aiming to strengthen territorial identity, create new businesses - especially for young people - and improve the quality of life in rural and mountain areas. Its participatory and cross-sectoral model aims to combine environmental protection, economic development, and social cohesion, contributing to a more resilient and sustainable future for Etna and Alcantara.
