Itinerarium Rosaliae

Itinerary: religious
7 days

The Itinerarium Rosaliae is a trail that crosses western Sicily, ideally and physically uniting two symbolic sites of devotion to Saint Rosalia: the Sanctuary of Monte Pellegrino in Palermo and the Hermitage of Santo Stefano Quisquina, in the hinterland of the Sicani Mountains. The route winds for approximately 180 kilometers, along trails, rural roads, ancient villages, and fascinating natural areas. Walking the Itinerarium Rosaliae means immersing yourself in the history and traditions of an authentic Sicily, often far from the most popular tourist routes. The trail passes through breathtaking landscapes, such as the verdant valleys of the Sicani Mountains, oak and chestnut forests, and panoramic views of the mountains and cultivated countryside, offering pilgrims and travelers opportunities for silence, reflection, and encounter. Along the way, you pass through small villages where a strong sense of community still reigns, where you can savor traditional dishes and hear stories of hospitality and popular devotion. The Itinerarium Rosaliae experience is a slow, spiritual, and cultural journey, where nature and faith intertwine, offering those who travel it the chance to discover the heart of Sicily and, perhaps, even something of themselves.
