GAL Madonie

Local Action Group

The GAL Madonie is a non-profit social promotion association established in 1998 to support the rural development of the Madonie area, a vast mountainous region in northern Sicily. It brings together numerous municipalities and private entities with the aim of enhancing the natural, cultural, and agricultural heritage of the area through participatory and inclusive strategies. The GAL operates by promoting cooperation among local authorities, businesses, associations, and citizens, promoting projects that strengthen production chains, sustainable tourism, technological innovation, and community services. Among its main actions are support for youth entrepreneurship, the revitalization of rural villages, the digitalization of inland areas, and the promotion of environmentally friendly development models. With an integrated and grassroots approach, the GAL Madonie works to counter depopulation, improve quality of life, and strengthen the cultural and social identity of local communities.
